Quality Measurement Background

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) uses hospital quality measures to evaluate the performance of hospitals on various aspects of health care quality. The Chartbook is a platform for learning from the results of CMS's hospital outcome measures which use administrative claims data to create risk-adjusted measures of mortality, readmission, and other outcomes for a variety of health conditions and procedures. Chartbook's data visualizations and research briefs can be used to monitor and better understand the measure results.
