Results by Proportion of Medicaid Patients

This analysis is conducted annually for the publicly reported CMS hospital outcome and payment measures to determine whether caring for a high proportion of Medicaid patients might impact a hospital’s risk-standardized mortality, readmission, or complication rates, excess days in acute care, or episode-of-care payments. The analysis compares results for hospitals that serve the highest number of Medicaid patients versus the hospitals that serve the lowest number of Medicaid patients in the U.S.
